Meet Your Team

All in the Family

Harry Baker knew he was onto something big when he opened our doors back 1953. His approach to audio visual was way ahead of its time. Since then, every member who has joined the Baker AV family embodies the very same passion, commitment and relentless pursuit for perfection that Baker AV brings to every project, for every client. It’s what we do.

  • 3 words that describe you.
    • Devoted, Steadfast, Thoughtful
  • What was your favorite hobby as a kid?
    • Terrorizing my younger sister
  • What do you love about working at Baker?
    • Every day is different, winning exciting clients and being in the middle of all our people
  • Who or what got you interested in AV?
    • Duke Mewborn, Baker’s VP when I started, he was so passionate about audio systems, his eyes sparkled when he talked about them, we later became partners, for 25 years, one of the best people I’ve ever known
  • Most memorable Baker project?
    • Wasn’t really a project, but helping put together the 48-year retirement celebration for longtime Baker employee, Lester Studstill. Seeing the look on his face and watching his family hear so many heartfelt expressions of admiration and real respect for such an outstanding employee was one of the most rewarding things.

  • 3 words that describe you.
    • Honorable, passionate, compassionate
  • What inspires you most?
    • Believe it or not, people’s ability to achieve under extreme conditions amazes me and inspires me to push harder.
  • Best piece of advice you’ve ever gotten?
    • I had a swimming coach tell me that “As soon as you are satisfied, you need to quit”. This has been an inspiration for me since I was 14 years old.  I have carried this over in my personal life and in my professional life.  I am always looking for the one extra inch that I can push to achieve.  Once I get that, I look for the next one, never being satisfied.  Always strive for more!
  • Do you classify yourself as a nerd, artist or engineer?
    • All the above. I am a nerd at heart who loves to dissect anything mechanical and can get lost in the latest and greatest technological concepts.  I am also an artist who has been involved in music since I was 4 playing the violin first, drums second and the bass third.  Considering myself an engineer would do injustice to the profession.  I consider myself to have an engineering-like mind in the way that I think about concepts and consider technology implementation.
  • What gets your adrenaline pumping?
    • The chase of the sale
  • What advice would you give to someone interested in an AV career?
    • The possibilities are endless. Expose yourself to all facets of the industry.  There are no wrong paths.

  • 3 words that describe you.
    • Loyal, meticulous, imaginative
  • What inspires you most?
    • What inspires me the most is envisioning my future self. I am fiercely devoted to my husband and our little family. Being able to imagine the possibilities of what our futures have in store together is the reason I get out of bed every day; trying to bring us one step closer to our goals and making the absolute most out of life.
  • What do you love about working at Baker?
    • Being able to come to work knowing that you look forward to what that day has in store is a profound thing this day-in-age. I have worked in many good environments, but Baker takes the cake, by far. We all really enjoy working together and each one of us is able to utilize our individual strengths to fortify this well-rounded team we have built. Even better than all of that, is the amount of praise and appreciation we receive for our efforts.

  • 3 words that describe you.
    • Devoted, Steadfast, Thoughtful
  • Most memorable Baker project?
    • They are all memorable, some more challenging than others. Our customer base is most impressive. Most impressive project; I would say the University of Alabama Stadium. I love SEC football.
  • If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?
    • I had always wanted to move to Seattle. Not sure why. My dreams have changed and now would like to find some lake property and live on the lake. No particular lake or location-just any lake. I still love to ski and love the water. It’s like a personal oasis for me.
  • Favorite, all-time quote?
    • “Hire the right people and you will never have to manage them. They will manage themselves.” This is one of the only personal items that I have on my Cube Farm. I look at it every day.

  • Favorite movie?
    • Old School (2003)
  • What do you love about working at Baker?
    • Having the ability to be challenged with something new almost daily – we are always trying to do new things with old equipment and do old things with new equipment. Sometimes we even put the two combinations together – it doesn’t get old in the audiovisual industry.  Baker provides the conduit to new and exciting things every day, and you truly get back what you put in at Baker.  There is a genuine appreciation for hard work and good ethics, always try to do the right thing.   Baker is a great place to work, but even a better place to have a career.
